Easter island is an island in the Pacific Ocean. The island was discovered and named by the Dutch explorer Jacob Rogggeveen, who arrived on the island on Easter Sunday 1722. Easter Island is famous for its 887 moai statues, created by the Rapanui people. The statues are between 1250 and 1500 years old and are up to 10 meters (33 ft) high.
